iPhone FAQ : Warranty, Insurance and Accidents
- Will AppleCare be available?
- Yes, AppleCare will be available in July from Apple. It will cost $69 and extends your warranty for one year (two years total from date of purchase). AppleCare does not cover accident damage.
- Will AT&T offer accident insurance?
- No. Existing customers with AT&T's insurance will have it automatically removed from their plan.
- Will iPhone scratch as easily as iPods do?
- No. iPhone has an "optical quality" hardened glass face. We have a report with an encounter with a pre-production iPhone with this glass face that could not be scratched with a key; production models appear similarly robust.
- What if I drop it?
- iPhone seems to be pretty rugged; it has survived PC Magazine and blogger drop-tests onto concrete with only surface scuffing. Let us know what happens when you drop yours.
